ACT JANET DAVIDSON








Bio

Janet Davidson grew up in  New York City and started attending professional acting classes when she was nine years old. She trained at  The American Academy of Dramatic Arts, HB Studios, and many participated in many acting workshops available there.  By 17 she was on the road crossing America acting and singing with various Equity Theatre pieces. Soon she was working as a SAG Actress, but by 25 a life behind the camera soon started calling her.  

Directing and producing commercials in New York led her to Los Angeles, California,where she had a very successful career as a DGA Assistant Director in both episodic television and movies for television; she is credited as 1st AD in over 200 episodic TV shows and 20 telefilms. Before coming to New Mexico she was a full time Director in series television. Ms Davidson has directed EARTH 2, CAGNEY & LACEY, SOUL FOOD, JUDGING AMY, and multiple episodes of ANY DAY NOW, which earned an Image Award nomination from the NAACP based on Janet;s work on the episode LIGHTEN UP RENE. Janet's New Mexico-made short film, A PIECE OF PIE was one of the Governor's Cup winners at the 2004 Santa Fe Film Festival and went on to win many other awards at various film festivals around the country, including Best Short Comedy at the International Family Film festival in Los Angeles. 

Janet serves as Vice Chair of Women in Film and Television International.

She produced the 2011 International Short Film Festival

Janet is on the Board of NMWIF, in addition to being one of the founding members and past President. 

She is teaching Acting and Film at various New Mexico schools as well as being on the board of WH21

Her monthly private Acting Workshop's are held in Santa Fe and she is available for private Coaching.
